ROLES

We're looking for directors with any level of experience to take on roles in productions starting next term.

The Role of a Director

Getting to know the rest of your team (actors, technical team, writer if applicable) is an important first step in the working relationship.

Then you'll be encouraged to work with the writer to develop a vision for the script, and have some informal run-throughs with the actors.

The main stage will be in the recording studio, where you turn the script into a quality recording alongside the rest of the team.

Finally, you'll be working with the technical team to cut the recorded audio into a professional final product.

Diverse Range of Productions

We aim to produce a diverse range of productions: drama, comedy, poetry, and informational recordings, from new writing as well as licensed work.

If you've got ideas, know someone who's written something, or you have something you wrote that you'd like to direct, we'd be keen to help out too.

You'll be Part of a Professional Production

It's relatively simple to produce a quality recording if you have the right equipment and software. You'll be proud of the product you've helped create, and others will too.

Loads of People Will Hear Your Talents

Your production will be showcased on our web site where visitors can listen for free (or syndicate to iTunes by etc podcast). We're currently developing the site for our launch, and will be instigating a large publicity campaign at the start of next year.

  • The reach of your creation is much larger - everyone at the university
  • Your entire family and friends can follow your talents without needing to make a trek to Cambridge, book seats or pay!
  • As well as this, there may be opportunities for the production to be distributed on student, internet, local or national radio.
We're looking into quality CD editions of shows:
  • A tangible, visually-impressive record of your efforts
  • Perfect for sharing with relatives and friends for years to come
  • Great stocking-fillers, Christmas / birthday presents etc

Involves Much Less Time and Hassle than Other Drama

Due to the nature of the medium and the production process, voice production involves much less time and hassle than stage acting. We expect most shows to have a turnaround time of a few weeks from forming cast and team to a polished, professional production.

  • No need to commit to something for an entire term or year
  • Get involved in more shows, and at short-notice
  • Keep your DoS and supervisors happy!
